Finger Murrine White Round Vase
7"T x 7"W
Originally inspired by cellular patterning and ocean creatures, this piece use murrines made of solid white color that are encased in clear glass and stretched into cane. This cane is then cut into hundreds of short sections that are fused together on ceramic pastorelli plate, and then shaped into a vessel. Great care is taken to retain the original texture of the murrine, as it is this fluid surface that gives the piece its distinctive quality. The labor intensive technique of murrine was developed as far back as the 1st Century BC in Egypt and was revived by the Venetian glass masters some 1500 years later in Murano. Designed by Caleb Siemon & Carmen Salazar. Signed and numbered.
Singular works can be recreated but will not be an exact replica of original.
