Battuto Cranberry/Aubergine Uvase
10"T x 6"W
These rare works of art use the traditional Italian technique of battuto. The name battuto refers to the forging of copper vessels where the hammer mark becomes part of the design. These pieces are blown using two solid transparent colors overlaying one another. Once the piece is cooled every facet is carved by hand using a lapidary wheel. Not only is the surface texture beautiful but the effect when the outer color is carved away creates a piece with added depth and luminosity. Hand blown and shaped in lead free crystal. Designed by Caleb Siemon & Carmen Salazar. Made in California. Signed and numbered.
Singular works can be recreated but will not be an exact replica of original.
